Film Piracy Survey

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if some of you would mind answering a quick survey to help me collect data for a report I'm writing for Uni.

It's about downloading films versus visiting the cinema and is very short and multiple choice so should only take a couple of minutes to complete.

New Update (finally)

I thought I'd update as I haven't posted anything for ages! I'm finding it a bit of a struggle to keep up with this blog, the main reason being I find Blogger quite confusing to use when it comes to gaining followers and finding other blogs. Maybe I just need to persevere with it a bit longer and hopefully I'll figure it out soon :)

I created a tumblr account a few weeks ago too (click here) but I seem to be having a similar problem with that too, I find it way too confusing, but I'm going to try and update it more regularly.

At the moment the only thing I regularly update is my Deviantart (link), although this isn't totally up to date it's the one I'm finding easiest to get my art noticed on. I also post all of my latest artwork on my Instagram page (here) so please give me a follow on any of these if you use them, I'd really appreciate it :)

I'll take this opportunity to post a few more pictures that I have drawn in the last few months

A Bit More

I have such a huge back catalogue of drawings that I want to post but I don't want to put them all up at once! I'll just post a few every couple of days or so, and try to narrow it down to the pieces I like best :)

First Term

I thought I'd post up pictures of some work from my first completed Term at University.

For our Props project we were asked to design and produce a puppet of a bird that was loosely based around the style of the puppets used in the play 'Avenue Q'. I designed the character of a carnival-style bird and made it from foam, fake fur, feathers and moulded plastic for the beak and eyes. Sorry, the picture isn't the best quality!

For the costume project, we were given the brief to make a mask. I designed a Day of the Dead style sugar skull mask with a nautical theme as a costume for a pirate character. I made the mask using bukram and layered tissue and newspaper, and decorated it with acrylic paints, string and ink.

Finally, some pieces from my Visual Studies work. The tasks included producing a plant model made from various material and featuring body parts (strange I know!), drawing a celebrity portrait/caricature and drawing eyes and mouths.

Old work 2

Time to post a few more old pieces up. I'm also in the process of starting up a Deviant Art account again (Link!). I used to have an account on there but I haven't posted on there in years, I could have just continued to use my old account but my art style has changed a lot since then so I thought a new account would be best. Here's the link to my old DA account if anyone's interested  - So Old -_-

Old work

Well... guess I'd better start by posting some artwork then!

I'll start by posting a few of my older pieces up, this is stuff that I've done probably between 2-5 years ago. I'll add more periodically. I have a lot of stuff but I don't want to just cram it all on at once!

Any comments appreciated.

First Post...

Hi everyone,

I'm Emily. I'm a 25 year old artist from Middlesbrough, a small town on the North East coast of England. Currently studying for a degree in Entertainment Design Crafts at Cleveland College of Art and Design.

I've never written a blog before. To be honest the idea of having a blog is something that has never really crossed my mind or appealed to me, I've never been one for keeping a diary and I don't feel that my life is anywhere near interesting enough to document. For that reason I'll probably keep the written bits on here to a minimum.. The main reason I decided to start blogging is that we had a lecture and workshop at my University earlier this week by the artist John McCrea, who has illustrated for both Marvel and DC Comics, among others. I showed him some of my artwork and he gave me the encouragement I needed to start getting it out there!

So I decided to create this blog is basically to showcase my artwork and to follow other artists who I find inspiring. My drawing and painting work is heavily influenced by the style of the tattoo culture, comic book art and portraiture. I love working mainly in coloured pencil, inks and watercolours. I also enjoy making things and as part of my University course involves prop and costume making I will be featuring some of that too.

I'm totally new to this whole blogging thing so please bear with me, it will probably be a bit rubbish for the first while until I figure it all out!
